Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock
Twisted Sister are one of the most iconic glam rock bands of all time, which you can see in the video for I Wanna Rock. The mise on scene is very typical of the genre, with the band having the usual big, over the top hair, with dramatic make-up. Their outfits are colourful, combined with a lot of black to fit the rock genre, with things like leather and denim being added for extra emphasis on the genre. This video could be used as inspiration to recreate our mise en scene to fit with the glam rock style, ordaining our band members in clothes similar to that of Twisted sister.
The video is also useful to see how narrative and performance can be combined, with the narrative actually leading to the performance, and showing how both elements can be featured within a similar setting, having the crowd play a small part in the narrative. The crowd are also dressed like people that are typical of the rock genre, with studs and black leather, a concept we could try to include in our video should we be able to get enough people to participate for the live performance. The lighting in video is usually high key, showing the music to be a fairly up beat song, with the live performance having smoke effects and strobe lighting, which we intend to try and incorporate with our own video.
