Blink 182 - Always

Blink 182 - Always

This video is fairly unique, being unlike any other video in the way it is edited, although it looks complex, it may not necessarily be that difficult to achieve the effect. The video plays through just as any other, although during the first few seconds, the screen splits into 3, using the same scenes, just varying the image by distorting size and alternating time, with the three sections occasionally making a whole image. Using this technique they focus of the shots, with close ups and medium long shots being combined to show the same image in a different style, adding interest and something unique to the video.

This makes the entire video fragmented, showing that the narrative itself could be fairly patchy, with members of the band often taking each others places, trying to gain the affection of the female, although only the drummer seems to manage. This works well to show the distress of the people in the narrative, which also includes some performance aspects, with members playing instruments in the apartment where the video is set, so there isn't a live element. If we focus heavily on creative editing, we could use this as inspiration to work in different and unique styles, in order to challenge ourselves, while still emphasising the narrative/performance aspect.
